Amber d’Orient

Amber d’Orient from the British house Anfar London is a woody floral oud for men, composed by Abdullah Anfar and released in 2022. Everyone who has described it calls it woody and floral, while a minority also find it spicy, sweet and citrusy.

The notes are listed together. Bergamot gives a short citrus lift at the start; saffron adds a dry, leathery spice; rose, peony and apple blossom form a generous floral middle, with peony and apple blossom keeping it fresher and lighter than rose alone would; and the base of agarwood, sandalwood and vanilla is dark, creamy and gently sweet. It follows a familiar rose-and-oud pattern with the edges softened.

No wear reports have been collected, so longevity and sillage are unknown. A saffron, rose and oud composition of this kind suits autumn and winter and evening occasions, and would appeal to a man who wants an oud that reads as polished rather than raw. It is sold in a 115 ml bottle.
