Combava Cedrat from the French house Affinessence, composed by Nicolas Bonneville and released in 2022, is a woody fragrance with a sharp citrus top. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, and a third add spicy, aromatic or citrusy.
Only a handful of notes are listed. Kaffir lime, known as combava, and lime open with an intensely green, zesty, slightly leafy citrus that is sharper and more aromatic than lemon. Mint adds a cool, clean freshness, and cardamom a warm, aromatic spice that bridges the citrus and the base. Woody notes then take over and carry the scent, which explains why wood is the dominant impression despite the bright opening.
