Alexandria Orientale

Sweet, woody and floral in equal measure, Alexandria Orientale is a 2018 composition by Chris Maurice for Xerjoff. About half of those who describe it also note aromatic and amber sides, and a smaller group a touch of spice.

Green apple and basil give a crisp, herbal brightness at the start, with coriander adding a light, citrusy spice. Bulgarian rose and Italian orris root form an elegant heart, the rose velvety and the orris cool and powdery. As it settles, tobacco leaf and leather bring a warm, slightly smoky texture, agarwood a dry, dark wood and incense a gentle smoke. Madagascar vanilla, sandalwood, amber and musk give a creamy, sweet, rounded base.

This is shared and can be worn by anyone. Its richness suits autumn and winter evenings, dinners and special occasions, and it should please people who like layered compositions mixing fruit, rose, tobacco and oud.
