Exotic Sun

Exotic Sun is a light, tropical gourmand from Ulric de Varens, released in 2019 and marketed for women. Gourmand is how everyone describes it, and a third also find it fresh or floral, which fits a simple formula built around fruit, water flowers and coconut.

Passionfruit and mango open it together, the passionfruit tangy and sharp, the mango ripe, juicy and sweet, so the start smells like a tropical fruit salad. The heart cools things down: water lily and lotus are both aquatic flowers, clean, slightly watery and faintly green, and they give the middle a fresh, pool-side feel that keeps the fruit from becoming cloying. The base is coconut and solar notes, the coconut milky and lightly sweet, the solar notes warm, slightly salty and sun-cream-like, so the finish is soft, warm and distinctly holiday-flavoured.
