Juniper Wood

Juniper Wood from the Spanish house Maison Label, composed by Angela Ciampagna and released in 2020 as a masculine fragrance, is a dry, peppery aromatic. Spicy is the word everyone uses for it; about a quarter also find it musky, aromatic or ambery.

Juniper berries are the lead, dry, resinous and gin-like, with a cool, slightly piney sharpness. Black pepper and pepper add a hot, dry bite, coriander a lemony, slightly soapy warmth, and cardamom a cool, aromatic lift, so the spice has several layers rather than a single heat. Lavender brings a clean, herbal calm to the middle. The base is simple and soft: musk for a smooth, skin-like finish and amber for a gentle, lasting warmth that rounds off the dryness of the spices.
