Romantica

Romantica is a 2020 release from the Italian house Furla, composed by Alex Lee and made for women. It is unusually balanced: everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, woody and floral all at once, and about half add spicy.

The notes are given as a single list. Blackcurrant opens tart and fruity, with coriander adding a fresh, slightly peppery spice and davana a boozy, apricot-like fruit note. Peony and jasmine make up the floral heart, peony light and rosy, jasmine richer. Mugane is a modern note with a soft, creamy, slightly floral woodiness that bridges flowers and base. Vanilla gives the sweetness, sandalwood a creamy smoothness and patchouli an earthy depth that keeps it grounded.
