Almanera

Almanera from the Italian house Epicò, released in 2022, is a rich gourmand with coffee, dried fruit, spun sugar and flowers. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand, most also find it floral, about half notice amber, and a minority mention spice, wood and musk.

Cardamom and star anise give the opening a cool, aromatic and licorice-like spice, while davana adds a boozy, fruity warmth and dried fruits a dark, sticky sweetness. The heart is floral and creamy: rose brings a velvety note, jasmine a sunny radiance, lily of the valley a dewy freshness, and milk a soft, smooth texture. Coffee adds a roasted bitterness, and spun sugar a fluffy, candyfloss sweetness. The base is warm and resinous, with myrrh, Tolu balsam and amber giving a balsamic glow, fir a resinous green note and musk a soft finish.
