Black pepper and pepper open it, dry, sharp and tingling, giving the first minutes a bright heat. Agarwood sits at the centre, a dark, resinous wood that is smoother here than in traditional Middle Eastern styles, with the pepper keeping it lively. Benzoin forms the base, a sweet, vanilla-like resin that softens the oud and gives the dry-down a warm, balsamic glow without turning it into a gourmand.
