Earth

Earth from the French house Elementals, released in 2018, is a dry woody floral with green, ambery and leathery undertones. Woody and floral impressions are shared by everyone who describes it, and about half also pick up green, amber or leather facets.

Broom and mimosa give the floral side a honeyed, hay-like sweetness, with ylang-ylang adding a creamy richness and chamomile a soft, herbal calm. Immortelle brings its distinctive warm, slightly burnt-sugar character, and beeswax deepens that honeyed impression. The woody core is guaiac wood, sandalwood and birch, which together smell smoky, creamy and a little tarry, while cypriol adds earthy depth and ambergris a salty, mineral warmth in the drydown.

Earth is worn by anyone. Its smoky-honeyed woods make it feel most at home in autumn and winter, and it is better suited to slow evenings and outdoor walks than to a bright, busy day.
