Infatuated

Infatuated from the British house Contradictions in ILK, released in 2020, is a sweet, woody oud with a custard heart. People describe it as gourmand and woody in equal measure; about two thirds also find it spicy or ambery, and a third floral or leathery.

Pear and apple blossom give the opening a crisp, slightly sweet fruitiness, and juniper and pepper add a dry, sharp bite. Custard and vanilla are the centre, creamy, eggy and sweet, and they are set against saffron, which brings a dry, leathery spice, and frankincense and olibanum, which add a smoky, church-like resin. Lavender and grass give a brief green, herbal freshness, and rubber a strange, smooth, slightly industrial note. Agarwood, cedar and sandalwood make up the woody base, with tonka bean, amber and musk adding warmth and softness.
