BMW M 1985

BMW M 1985 is a dry, woody fragrance from BMW Fragrances, composed by Frank Voelkl and Alexandra Monet and released in 2025. It is worn by anyone. Woody is the one word everyone agrees on; about a third also find it green, resinous or citrusy.

Lime gives the opening a sharp, zesty bite, fig a milky, green, leafy freshness, and elemi a lemony, slightly peppery resin that links the citrus to the woods beneath. In the heart, gurjan balsam adds a soft, woody, faintly smoky resin, cypress a dry, coniferous greenness, and clearwood a clean, modern take on patchouli without its earthiness. The base is all wood. Cedar brings a dry, pencil-shaving crispness, guaiac wood a smoky, tar-like depth, and cypriol a dark, leathery, almost oud-like woodiness that gives the finish its weight.

Green citrus over dense, smoky woods makes a composed, fairly serious scent, well suited to autumn and to daytime wear for someone who prefers dry woods to anything sweet.
