Oud Celestial

Oud Celestial by Azha Perfumes, released in 2022 and worn by anyone, is described by its wearers as spicy, gourmand and woody in equal measure. Despite the name, the listed notes do not include oud; the composition is given as three materials, saffron, vanilla and patchouli, with no top, heart or base stages.

Saffron is the spice: warm, slightly leathery and faintly medicinal, the note that gives many oud-style scents their characteristic dry heat. Vanilla is the gourmand side, a sweet, creamy warmth that softens the saffron and gives the scent its comfort. Patchouli supplies the wood, earthy, dark and dry, which keeps the vanilla from becoming purely sugary and adds the depth people associate with the oud genre.
