Safran-Neroli

Safran-Neroli from the French house Affinessence, composed by Margherita Carini and released in 2024, is green and floral in equal parts. Everyone who describes it uses both words, and about half add spicy or sweet.

Seven notes are listed, without stages. Neroli leads, fresh, green and faintly bitter, with the honeyed edge of orange blossom beneath it. Saffron adds a warm, leathery, slightly metallic spice that gives the pairing its name. Black tea and tea bring a dry, leafy, tannic green that deepens the neroli, and davana a fruity, apricot-like, slightly boozy note. Ylang-ylang contributes a creamy floral richness, and honey a thick, golden sweetness that rounds the whole into something warmer than a typical neroli scent.

It is worn by anyone. Community reports on longevity and sillage have not yet been gathered. The green-tea-and-honey character suits spring and autumn days, and someone who likes neroli but wants it with spice and warmth rather than soap-clean freshness.
