Aesthetic Turbulence

Aesthetic Turbulence is a green, spicy scent built around tea, liquorice and pepper, with a floral and resinous undertone. State of Mind, a French house, released it in 2017; it is worn by anyone.

Mandarin gives a brief, bright citrus start, but the scent quickly turns to its real subject: green tea and oolong, which bring a leafy, slightly bitter freshness, and liquorice, which adds a dark, sweet, aniseed-like edge. Pimento and red pepper supply a warm, lively heat that gives the scent its name. Jasmine softens the middle with a smooth floral note, while labdanum and immortelle form a warm, resinous, faintly maple-like base that balances the greenness.

It suits spring and autumn and works well for daytime wear, particularly for anyone who likes tea scents with more character than the usual clean, watery kind.
