Rosa Limone

Rosa Limone from the Italian house New Notes, released in 2022, is a citrus rose with a marine freshness and a soft woody base. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, most also notice citrus, about half find it woody, and a minority mention sweetness, musk and amber.

The opening is bright and zesty: lemon, grapefruit, pink grapefruit, mandarin and bergamot give a sharp, juicy, sparkling freshness, while sea water adds a cool, salty, breezy note. The heart is floral, with Damask rose bringing a full, velvety petal tone, geranium a rosy, minty brightness, and jasmine and ylang-ylang a sunnier, creamier touch, with iris adding powder. The base is gentle: sandalwood and patchouli give smooth, earthy woods, agarwood a hint of darkness, and ambrette with amber a soft, musky warmth.
