Quandoley 805

Quandoley 805 from the Swiss house Maison Noir, composed by Guillaume Flavigny and released in 2024, is a resin-led fragrance. Everyone who describes it calls it resinous; about two thirds add ambery, and a third find it spicy, sweet, woody or leathery.

The notes are listed without stages. Pink pepper opens with a rosy, slightly sharp spice, and olive adds a green, savoury, faintly bitter note that is rare in perfumery. Ylang-ylang gives a creamy floral softness in the middle. The base is a dense stack of resins: frankincense smoky and lemony, labdanum warm and ambery, benzoin sweet and vanillic, styrax balsamic and slightly leathery. Oud adds dark wood, leather a supple smokiness, and vanilla a rounded sweetness.

It is worn by anyone. Community data on longevity and sillage is not yet available. The incense-and-amber weight suits winter and evenings, and it will appeal to someone who likes church resins and balsams with a savoury, unexpected opening.
