Black Oud Extreme Amber

Black Oud Extreme Amber, from the French house Laurent Mazzone Parfums, was released in 2018 and is made to be worn by anyone. Everyone calls it woody, two thirds also find it spicy or amber-like, and a third note sweetness or leather.

The notes are listed together and leave no doubt about the direction. Agarwood is the core, dark and resinous, with incense adding smoke and spices adding heat. Civet and castoreum are animalic materials, bringing a warm, leathery, slightly feral depth that gives the scent its name. Cedar and sandalwood provide the woody frame, while vanilla and ambergris soften the base with sweetness and a salty, mineral warmth.
