Costiera

Costiera is a Mediterranean citrus from the Italian house Gritti, composed by Luca Gritti and released in 2017, and it is worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it calls it citrus, two thirds find it fresh and floral, and a minority mention woody, aromatic and amber.

Calabrian bergamot and orange open it, sweet and zesty, with sea notes adding a salty, breezy freshness. Rosemary gives a green, aromatic, slightly camphorous edge, like herbs growing by the coast. Lemon blossom and a general floral note soften the middle with a light, honeyed sweetness. The base is warmer than the opening suggests: sandalwood for creaminess, amber for a soft resinous glow, and vanilla for a gentle sweetness that lingers after the citrus has gone.

It is a holiday scent, best in warm weather and daytime, with enough warmth in the drydown to last into the evening. Anyone who likes citrus with a seaside feel and a soft finish should enjoy it.
