Pure Femme

Pure Femme, a 2022 women's fragrance from the French house Franck Olivier, is a creamy floral with an unusual vegetable edge. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, about two thirds find it sweet and woody, and a third resinous and citrusy.

Bergamot gives a brief, bright opening, and rhubarb adds a tart, green, slightly vegetal freshness. Carrot brings an earthy, faintly iris-like sweetness that is rare in a floral. The heart is jasmine, including jasmine sambac, with freesia for a light, peppery lift. The base is soft and milky: milk and benzoin bring a creamy, balsamic sweetness, sandalwood adds a smooth wood, and patchouli a touch of earth.
