A Rose For...

A Rose For... by the London house Floris, released in 2016, is a woody rose with tea and smoke. Everyone who describes it calls it woody and floral, about half also find it green or ambery, and a quarter sweet.

The notes are listed together. Red rose and rose are the centre, full and slightly jammy, with tuberose adding a creamy white-floral richness. Darjeeling black tea gives a dry, tannic, faintly green note that keeps the roses from becoming too lush, and orris root a cool, powdery touch. The base turns dark: oud and sandalwood give a resinous, smooth woodiness, incense a dry smokiness, and vanilla and amber a warm, soft sweetness.

A Rose For... is a shared fragrance, worn by anyone. Rose over oud, incense and vanilla is an autumn and winter combination, well suited to evenings, and it fits someone who likes rose presented with depth and a little smoke rather than freshly cut. It is offered in 100 ml and 50 ml sizes.
