Azaran

Green tea meets leather in Azaran, a men's fragrance from Bvlgari composed by Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and released in 2021. Everyone who describes it finds it green and woody, and about half also call it spicy, leathery and citrus.

Bergamot gives the opening a bright citrus lift, but green tea takes over almost immediately with its dry, slightly bitter, leafy freshness. Saffron adds a warm, leathery spice with a faintly metallic edge, which is what turns the composition from tea towards something darker. Leather and cedar then settle in, dry and smooth, and beeswax adds a soft, honeyed, slightly waxy warmth that rounds off the drydown.

It is a restrained, textured scent rather than a loud one. Marketed to men, it suits daytime and the office, and works in both mild and cooler weather. Those who enjoy tea notes but want more substance than a fresh tea cologne will find the leather and saffron give it that.
