Sutton Place

Sutton Place, released by Bond No 9 in 2016, is a sweet, fruity floral with a leathery undertone. Everyone who describes it calls it gourmand; about two-thirds also find it floral or citrus, and a third notice green, amber or leather facets.

The notes are given as a single list. Bergamot, tangerine and pineapple make a bright, juicy opening, with black currant and currant leaf and bud adding a tart, green, slightly sharp fruitiness. Pink pepper gives a light spice. The heart pairs jasmine and lily, a creamy white-floral accord. In the base, vanilla brings the sweetness, patchouli adds earth, leather a supple, slightly smoky depth, and amber and musk a warm, soft finish.

Sutton Place is worn by anyone. Its sweet fruit and vanilla suggest cooler weather and the evening, while the citrus and currant keep the opening lively, and it is likely to appeal to anyone who enjoys fruity gourmands with a little edge.
