Dubai Garnet

Dubai Garnet by Bond No 9, released in 2016, is spicy and floral in equal measure, with a fruity sweetness beneath. Everyone who describes it uses both words; about two thirds add gourmand, and a third find it aromatic, ambery or citrusy.

The ingredient list is long and not staged. Blackberry and plum open dark and jammy, with bergamot for brightness. Pink pepper, cardamom and cumin build the spice, cumin adding a warm, earthy, slightly animalic edge. Lavender gives an aromatic lift. Rose, jasmine and magnolia form a full floral heart. The base is complex: myrrh for a bitter, balsamic resin, amber for warmth, oakmoss and vetiver for dry, green earthiness, musk for softness, and seaweed for a salty, marine strangeness.

It is worn by anyone. Community data on longevity and sillage is not yet available. The dense, spiced fruit-and-resin character belongs to cold weather and evenings, and suits someone who likes rich, layered scents with an unusual twist.
