L'Ame Slave is a sweet, woody citrus with a spicy, leathery edge, released by the French house State of Mind in 2017 and composed by Karine Dubreuil-Sereni. It is worn by anyone.
Bergamot and lemon open it with a bright citrus, warmed by ginger, which adds a fresh, peppery heat. Tea sits in the heart, leafy and light, with lilac adding a soft, slightly soapy spring-floral note. Honey brings a thick, golden sweetness that defines the drydown, with vanilla adding warmth. The base is woody and smoky: cedar and sandalwood give structure and creaminess, and birch a tarry, leathery smoke that recalls Russian leather.
It suits autumn and winter and evening wear. Anyone who likes honeyed, smoky woods with a citrus start should find it an interesting wear.
