Casbah, released by Robert Piguet in 2012 and composed by Aurélien Guichard, is equally spicy and woody, with green, floral, aromatic and amber sides in support.
The name evokes a North African citadel. The top notes are warm and green: nutmeg gives a woody spice, black pepper a dry heat and angelica an earthy, slightly musky herbal greenness. In the heart, incense brings a dry, smoky haze, orris root a cool, powdery and earthy elegance and tobacco a sweet, hay-like warmth. The base is dry and woody: vetiver gives an earthy, smoky dryness and cedar a clean structure.
Wearers report exceptional staying power, with half calling it almost endless, and its sillage is described as moderate by many but enormous by a sizeable share, so it should be applied sparingly. It is voted mainly for winter and autumn, and more often as a night scent. It is worn by anyone and suits cold evenings and formal occasions, for people who like dry, spiced incense with powdery iris and tobacco, in a dark, austere style.
