Godolphin is a 2010 fragrance from Parfums de Marly, composed by Michèle Saramito and marketed for men. Woods and florals lead equally, with sweetness next and touches of spice, green notes and leather.
The opening is unusual and herbal: mate gives a dry, tea-like greenness, cypress and thyme bring aromatic freshness, saffron adds a leathery spice and fruity and green notes a light lift. The heart turns surprisingly floral for a masculine scent, with jasmine, rose and orris root for a soft, powdery elegance. The base is deep and smooth, with leather, Virginia cedar and vetiver for dry woodiness, and vanilla, amber and musk for warmth.
People report excellent staying power, with most calling it long lasting and some saying it lasts far longer still, and a sillage that is strong to moderate. It is voted for autumn and winter and favours evening wear. It suits formal occasions and anyone who enjoys a refined, leathery floral woods scent.
