Black Aoud is a woody fragrance from the French house Montale, composed by Pierre Montale and released in 2006. Wood leads, with musky, floral, amber and citrus sides behind it.
Mandarin opens briefly with a bright citrus, before rose and agarwood take over. The pairing is the scent's core: rose brings a deep, velvety floral note, and agarwood, or oud, a dark, smoky, slightly medicinal woodiness. In the base, patchouli adds an earthy depth, French labdanum a balsamic, resinous warmth, and musk a soft, lingering finish.
