Mercedes Benz Man Private is a woody scent above all: everyone who describes it says woody, and only a minority add spicy, resinous, aromatic or amber. Olivier Cresp composed it for Mercedes-Benz in 2018, and it is a masculine fragrance.

The aromatic side comes from lavender and artemisia, the first clean and herbal, the second drier and more bitter, with cardamom adding a warm, slightly green spice. Cypress contributes a cool, resinous evergreen freshness. The woody heart is cedar and cashmere wood, dry and sharp on one hand and soft and enveloping on the other, with patchouli adding earthiness underneath. Labdanum brings a warm, slightly leathery amber resin, and ambroxan gives the whole thing a smooth, mineral, skin-like glow that extends the woods.

A dry, clean, masculine woody fragrance with a herbal opening and a warm but unsweetened finish, suited to anyone who wants something smart and understated rather than sweet or loud.
