Rose Supercritique from the French house Les EAUX Primordiales, composed by Arnaud Poulain in 2018, is a warm, resinous rose. Amber is what everyone notices, and about half also describe it as spicy, sweet, floral, resinous and citrusy.

Bergamot, red berries and blackcurrant open it bright and tart, with cardamom adding a cool, aromatic spice. Rose sits at the centre, but it is a rose surrounded by smoke rather than petals: incense and myrrh bring a dry, resinous, church-like depth. Ambroxan underneath adds a warm, mineral, slightly salty glow that carries the scent and helps it last.
