Warde, from the Arabic for rose, is a 2018 fragrance by Kajal in which wood and flowers share the lead, with smaller groups noticing greenery, amber, sweetness and musk.

Black currant gives a tart, juicy opening, and absinthe and artemisia a bitter, herbal, slightly liquorice-like green. The heart is a floral bouquet: rose is the main voice, velvety and soft, with jasmine, orange blossom, violet and white flowers adding creaminess, honey and powder. The base is woody and forest-like: pine, balsam fir and fir bring a resinous, sticky greenery, oakmoss and moss a damp, earthy depth, agarwood a dry, smoky oud, and patchouli, resins and musk a warm finish.

Warde is shared and can be worn by anyone. It suits autumn and winter, evenings and dressier occasions, and should appeal to people who like rose and oud with an unusual green, coniferous twist.
