Pomegranate Noir by Jo Malone London, created in 2005 by Beverley Bayne, is a dark, fruity woody floral. People describe it as woody and floral in equal measure, most also as spicy, sweet and amber, and a minority as fresh.

The opening is a bowl of dark and juicy fruit: plum, pomegranate and raspberry give a tart, jammy sweetness, while watermelon and rhubarb add a cool, crisp freshness. The heart turns spicier and smokier, as pink pepper and clove bring warm spice, frankincense and opoponax a soft, incense-like resin, guaiac wood a smoky woodiness, and rose and jasmine a floral lift. The base settles into patchouli for earthiness, amber for warmth, cedar for dryness and musk for a soft finish.

Most wearers find longevity and sillage moderate. Votes are split between autumn and winter and almost evenly between day and night, so it suits cool-weather days and evenings. It is worn by anyone who likes dark fruit with spice and smoke.
