Jil Sander No. 4 is a 1990 fragrance from the German house Jil Sander, composed by Michel Almairac. Florals dominate, with sweetness next and spice, wood, green and musky notes in support.
The opening is fruity and green: plum and peach bring a soft, ripe sweetness, rose and geranium a floral lift, galbanum a sharp, leafy note and anise a light liquorice touch. The heart is a dense bouquet of carnation, tuberose, jasmine, violet and ylang-ylang, spiced with nutmeg and heliotrope's almond-like powder. The base is rich and old-school, with oakmoss and patchouli for a mossy depth, civet for an animalic warmth, and vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and musk for softness.
Many wearers say it lasts exceptionally long, and the sillage is moderate to strong. It is voted for autumn and winter and leans towards evening wear. Marketed for women, it suits anyone who loves full, powdery, retro florals.
