Lysander from Il Profvmo, composed by Silvana Casoli and released in 2017, is a green aromatic that smells of a meadow after rain. Everyone who describes it calls it green and aromatic, and about half add woody, fresh and floral.
The opening is cold and sharp: mint and water mint give a cool, almost icy freshness, and juniper adds a resinous, gin-like bite. Grass and green grass are the centre of it, the smell of a freshly cut lawn, sappy and slightly sweet, with sage bringing a drier, herbal note. Violet adds a faint, powdery softness that keeps the green from being purely vegetal. The base is vetiver, grassy and rooty, which carries the meadow idea through to the end with a dry, faintly smoky finish.
Marketed for men, it suits spring and summer days and daytime wear, outdoors and casual, and a person who likes natural, herbal scents and wants something that smells more like a garden than a bottle.
