Tangerina

Tangerina is a spiced citrus from the Italian house Gritti, composed by Luca Gritti and released in 2018. Everyone who describes it calls it citrus, two thirds find it spicy, and a minority mention gourmand, musky and floral sides.

Tangerine, lime and citron make up the opening, sweet and zesty with a sharp green edge. Ginger and coriander then warm it up: ginger with a fresh, peppery heat and coriander with a slightly soapy, herbal spice. Jasmine adds a soft floral layer in the middle. The surprise comes in the base, where caramel brings a burnt-sugar sweetness that sits against the citrus, and musk smooths the drydown.

The mix of bright fruit, warm spice and a sweet finish makes it more interesting than a straightforward cologne. Worn by anyone, it suits daytime and warmer months, and will appeal to people who like citrus but want something with a little more body.
