Fenice, composed by Luca Gritti for the Italian house Gritti and released in 2020, is a fruity white floral worn by anyone. Everyone who describes it calls it floral, about half find it gourmand, and a minority add woody, musky and amber.
Passionfruit and peach open it, tangy and sweet, with the passionfruit giving a sharper, tropical edge. The heart is a lush bouquet: magnolia, lemony and creamy; lily, heady and slightly spicy; jasmine, rich and warm; and orange blossom, honeyed and sunny. Together they give a full, almost tropical floral impression. The base is soft and uncomplicated, with woods for structure, amber for warmth and musk to settle it on the skin.
It is bright and generous rather than subtle, suited to warm weather, daytime and holidays, where a big fruity floral feels at home. Anyone who enjoys white flowers with a sweet, fruity introduction should find it appealing.
