Vetiver from Etro, released in 1989, is a dry, green woody scent. Wood leads, with green strongly present and musky, aromatic, ambery and citrus touches.
It opens with bergamot and petitgrain for a fresh, slightly bitter citrus brightness, and artemisia and clary sage for a herbal, aromatic edge. The heart is woody and green: cypress gives a resinous freshness, cedar a dry woodiness and vetiver an earthy, rooty and slightly smoky character. The base is warm and soft, with tobacco adding a mellow, leafy note, amber a gentle glow and musk a clean finish.
Worn by anyone, its dry, green character suits spring and autumn and daytime wear, and it is easy enough for the office. It will appeal to someone who wants a classic, understated vetiver with a fresh herbal opening and a warm, tobacco-tinged finish.
