Molecule 01 + Cistus, created by Geza Schoen for Escentric Molecules in 2025, is a resinous fragrance. Resin is the only accord people report, and the composition is built on just two materials.
Iso E Super, the single molecule behind the original Molecule 01, gives a smooth, transparent, velvety woodiness that can seem to come and go on the skin. Labdanum, the resin of the cistus shrub, is added to it: a warm, honeyed, slightly leathery and ambery note with a faint animalic depth. Together they make a soft, glowing amber-wood that stays fairly linear from start to finish, close to the skin rather than loud.
It is shared and suits anyone. The warm labdanum gives it a natural pull towards autumn and winter, evenings and cosy days, while its simplicity makes it easy to wear daily or to layer with other scents. It should appeal to people who like minimalist, skin-like ambers.
