Declaration is a spicy fragrance from the French house Cartier, composed by Jean-Claude Ellena and released in 1998. Spice leads, with floral and citrus sides behind it and lighter green, woody and leather touches.

Bergamot, mandarin and bitter orange open with a bright citrus, while birch and artemisia add a smoky, herbal bitterness. The heart is spiced: cardamom, cinnamon, ginger and pepper bring warmth, with orris root adding powder. In the base, cedar, vetiver and oakmoss create a dry, earthy wood, with leather and tea adding a smooth, slightly smoky finish.

Most wearers find its longevity moderate, and most report moderate sillage. It is voted for spring and autumn and mostly for daytime. This masculine scent suits the office and smart occasions, and someone who likes dry, elegant spice with a transparent, airy woody structure.
