Promesse by Cacharel, released in 2005 and composed by Sophie Labbé and Carlos Benaïm, is a fresh, fruity floral. Everyone describes it as floral, most also as woody and citrusy, and a minority as sweet, musky and amber.
It opens with bergamot and mandarin orange for a bright citrus start, and blackberry for a dark, juicy fruitiness. The heart brings jasmine for a soft white-floral note, violet for a powdery, slightly sweet tone and orchid for a creamy, exotic softness. The base is clean and warm, with cedar adding dryness, sandalwood creaminess, and amber and musk a soft, lasting glow.
People report long-lasting wear, and while most find the trail moderate, a notable group says it projects very strongly. It is voted mostly for spring and summer and very strongly for daytime, which suits office days, warm weekends and outings. It fits someone who likes a bright fruity floral with good staying power.
