Back to Black is a gourmand fragrance from the French house By Kilian, composed by Calice Becker and released in 2009. Sweetness leads, with spice close behind and woody, resinous, amber and herbal touches. It is worn by anyone.

Bergamot, cardamom and saffron open with a warm, aromatic spice, while cherry and raspberry add a dark, juicy fruitiness. The heart is rich: tobacco brings a honeyed, slightly dry warmth, white honey a golden sweetness, and gingerbread a spiced, baked note. In the base, vanilla, tonka bean and benzoin create a dense, sweet and resinous finish.

Wearers report eternal to long-lasting longevity, and sillage is mostly moderate, with some finding it strong. It is voted for winter and autumn and mostly for evenings. It suits cold nights and the festive season, and someone who loves rich honey-tobacco gourmands.
