The Sheikh

The Sheikh by the Australian brand Bujairami, composed by Adam Bujairami and released in 2023, is a classic rose-and-saffron oud worn by anyone. Woody is the word everyone uses; about a third also find it spicy, floral and amber-like.

Saffron opens it with a dry, leathery, slightly medicinal spice, and rose adds a velvety, jammy floral depth, the traditional pairing that frames so many oud compositions. The heart and base are wood: agarwood (oud) for a rich, deep, slightly animalic wood, cedar for a clean, dry line that keeps the oud from feeling too heavy and amber for a warm, resinous glow that smooths the dry-down. With six notes, the structure is clear and each element is easy to pick out.

It is an evening and cold-weather fragrance by nature, suited to formal occasions and winter nights. It suits someone who likes the Middle Eastern oud style in its most recognisable form, rose and saffron over wood, and wants a shared fragrance with presence rather than freshness.
