The pepper is pronounced: black pepper, white pepper, pink pepper and pepper together give a dry, prickly and slightly fizzy spice from the first moment. Bergamot and mandarin add a juicy citrus brightness, while neroli, including Tunisian neroli, brings a fresh, slightly bitter orange-blossom note. As it develops, vetiver comes forward with its earthy, rooty and slightly smoky character, backed by cedar, including Atlas cedar, for dry woodiness, patchouli for depth and amber for a soft, warm finish.
The peppery, woody character suits office days, evenings and the cooler months, though the citrus and neroli keep it fresh enough for spring. It should appeal to people who love vetiver and want it framed by a bold, multi-layered pepper accord.
