Lato Oscuro, released by the Italian brand Ars Mirabile in 2016, is mainly woody, with resinous, amber and citrus sides and a smaller musky touch.

The name means dark side, and the scent pairs forest freshness with smoke. Lime and orange give a short, bright citrus opening, and juniper berries add a crisp, gin-like note. Pine needles and cypress then bring a resinous, evergreen character, the smell of a cold forest. The base is where the darker side appears: incense gives a dry, churchy smoke, benzoin a warm, balsamic sweetness, and sandalwood a creamy woodiness beneath it all.

The profile suggests autumn and winter, evenings and outdoor occasions in cold weather. It is meant to be worn by anyone who likes resinous, piney woods with incense and amber, and who enjoys scents that evoke a winter forest rather than sweetness or flowers.
