17th Century, released by Al-Jazeera Perfumes from Qatar in 2021 and composed by Juliette Karagueuzoglou, is mainly floral, with a strong gourmand side and smaller musky, resinous and citrus touches.
Mandarin orange opens with a sweet, juicy citrus sparkle, and black currant a tart, dark berry note. Davana, a herb with a fruity, slightly boozy and apricot-like character, adds warmth. The heart is a lush white floral bouquet: tuberose brings a creamy, heady richness, gardenia a lush, slightly green creaminess and jasmine a warm, slightly fruity sweetness. The base is warm and smooth: vanilla gives a creamy sweetness, which is where much of the gourmand side comes from, myrrh a soft, balsamic and slightly bitter resin, and musk a clean, skin-like finish.
The profile suggests autumn and spring, evenings and special occasions where a rich, creamy floral fits. It is meant to be worn by anyone who likes heady white flowers with vanilla and a touch of resin, and who enjoys opulent, enveloping florals with a slightly vintage, historical feel in keeping with the name.
