Tempest by Xerjoff, released in 2023, is a woody fragrance with a bright citrus opening, a floral heart and a deep, resinous base. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, most also notice citrus, about half find it floral and amber, and a minority mention green and spicy touches.
The opening is a wide citrus spread: bergamot, Brazilian orange, lemon and petitgrain give a sparkling, slightly bitter, leafy brightness, with ginger adding zest and lavender an herbal calm. The heart brings Bulgarian rose and jasmine sambac for a rich floral body. The base is layered with woods: Laotian oud adds dark, resinous depth, Atlas cedar a dry woodiness, Haitian vetiver a grassy smokiness, and patchouli an earthy richness, warmed by amber and gurjun balsam.
Unisex in spirit, it suits people who like complex, structured woods that start fresh. The citrus top makes it wearable by day, while the oud and resin give weight for evenings in autumn and winter. Those who enjoy citrus-lifted oud and vetiver compositions should find it rewarding.
