Java Blossom from Xerjoff, composed by Chris Maurice in 2012, is a woody floral with tuberose, orange blossom and oud. Everyone who describes it calls it woody, most also find it floral, and a minority mention amber and citrus.

Bergamot gives a bright, slightly bitter citrus opening. The heart is floral and lush: tuberose brings a creamy, buttery, heady white-flower note and orange blossom a honeyed, sunny sweetness, together suggesting a tropical garden. The base is woody and smoky: agarwood adds a dark, resinous depth, incense a dry, ceremonial haze, sandalwood a creamy smoothness and vetiver a grassy, earthy dryness.

Unisex in spirit, it suits people who like white florals with a dark, woody backbone. The profile works for spring and autumn evenings, special occasions and dinners, and the incense and oud give it presence in cooler months. Those who enjoy tuberose and oud compositions with a smoky incense touch should find it elegant and exotic.
