Alexandria II, released by Xerjoff in 2012 and composed by Chris Maurice, is a rich, spiced wood with a sweet, floral centre. Everyone describes it as woody; about half also call it gourmand and floral, with spicy, aromatic and amber facets noted by a quarter. It is worn by anyone.
The opening sets a warm, dry tone: palisander rosewood gives a polished, slightly rosy wood, lavender a clean aromatic note, and apple with cinnamon a baked, spiced sweetness. The heart adds rose and lily of the valley over cedar, floral but kept dry. The base is deep and long, with sandalwood and oud bringing a creamy, resinous, faintly smoky wood, vanilla and amber warmth, and musk a soft landing.
Most wearers find it lasts a very long time, many calling it eternal, and the trail is strong to enormous. It is voted equally for autumn and winter, and strongly for night. It suits cold evenings and formal occasions where a commanding presence is welcome.
