Crystal Noir Eau de Toilette is the lighter 2004 edition of Versace's Crystal Noir, also by Antoine Lie. Spicy and floral are the words everyone uses; a third also find it woody, musky and ambery.

Cardamom, ginger and pepper open it with a dry, tingling warmth. The heart is a white-floral core of gardenia and orange blossom, creamy and heady, with peony adding a softer, fresher petal note; there is no coconut listed here, so the flowers read a little cleaner than in the original Crystal Noir. The base is amber, musk and sandalwood, warm and smooth, settling close to the skin.

About half of wearers find it long lasting and a third moderate, and the sillage is moderate for most, strong for a third, so it is somewhat quieter than its richer sibling while still carrying. Autumn and winter lead the seasonal votes and it is worn mostly at night. It suits cool evenings and anyone who likes a spiced gardenia but prefers it a shade more restrained.
