Pure Bloom

Pure Bloom, released by S.T. Dupont in 2019 and marketed for women, is a woody floral with a fruity twist. Almost everyone describes it as woody and most add floral; about a third also notice spice or a sweet, gourmand side.

Sour cherry is the surprise here: tart and a little boozy, it gives the opening a bright, slightly dark fruitiness rather than the usual citrus. Pink pepper sharpens it with a rosy, peppery sparkle. The flowers that follow are big ones, tuberose with its creamy, heady presence and orange blossom with a sweeter, honeyed softness, so the heart feels lush rather than delicate. Cashmere wood then takes over, smooth and slightly musky, giving the scent its body, while patchouli adds an earthy anchor that stops the cherry and white flowers turning too sweet.
