Asteria

Asteria from the French house Princesse Marina De Bourbon, released in 2003, is a spicy woody floral for women. People describe it as woody and floral in equal measure, and about half also find it spicy, sweet, musky and warm with amber.

Plum and juniper open it, the plum ripe and jammy, the juniper cool, dry and gin-like. The heart is rose and peony, a soft, rounded floral pairing, warmed by cloves, which add a spicy, slightly medicinal edge that gives the flowers character. The base is woody and warm: cedar for dryness, sandalwood for creaminess, amber for a resinous glow and musk for a smooth, lasting finish.

It is marketed as feminine and suits autumn and winter and the evening, for someone who likes rose with cloves and warm wood rather than a fresh, dewy rose.
